What gives us even more headache is that the food is not always available to us! Most restaurants only serve Dim Sum in the morning till mid-afternoon, switching to an entirely different menu for dinner-time consumers.
Wouldn’t it all be simpler if we all knew how to make our own Dim Sum? It might seem to be a lot of trouble at first, having to purchase all the different types of ingredients and then learning to steam them to appropriate levels to even produce a satisfactory multi-course meal. What Is Dim Sum?
The roots of Dim Sum dishes can be traced way back in the original Dim Sum houses in Canton,China. They weren’t anything fancy, just small, roadside establishedments that served tea to go with a some sustencance for the weary travelers of the rural workers. As time passes, the appreciation of such sustenance grew and eventually overtook that of tea to become the main focus of the meal. Food comes served in table trolleys that are stacked high wiith bamboo steamer baskets at restaurants, with diners ordering by pointing at the dishes they want as the trolley comes near them.

I have been a huge fan of Dim Sum delicacies since I first ate it 20 years ago, but the thought of preparing my own Dim Sum dishes has never crossed my mind until recently.
